WELCOME to FIDDLER ON THE ROOF WIKI
Fiddler on the Roof Wiki is about the Fiddler on the Roof production.

Fiddler on the Roof
Fiddler on the Roof either refers to the 1960's Broadway play or the 1971 film. The production has been put into many languages and has been shown all around the world. Some other names of the production include Tevye and his Daughters and Tevye and the Fiddler.

The movie is about a poor milkman, Tevye (Chaim Topol), and his five daughters, who all live in Anatevka, a village in present-day Ukraine. The movie picks up when Yente (Molly Picon) the Matchmaker comes to visit Tevye's house. She speaks to Tevye's wife, Golde (Norma Crane), and tells her that she has found a match for the oldest of Tevye's daughters, Tzeitel (Rosalind Harris), who is Lazar Wolf (Paul Mann). After the Sabbath, Tevye talks to Lazar Wolf, who explains to Tevye that he likes Tzeitel. They agree they will marry Lazar and Tzeitel, and after the party they have, Tevye meets the Fiddler (Tutte Lemkow) and then a Russian Official (Vernon Dobtcheff), who says they will be doing a pogrom. When Tzeitel finds out about the marriage, she is outraged, and then tells Tevye that she and Motel Kamzoil (Leonard Frey) took a pledge that they would marry. Tevye doesn't know how to explain this, but he decides he will fake a nightmare, where Lazar's dead wife, Fruma-Sarah (Ruth Madoc) appears to him and says that Tzeitel must marry Motel and not Lazar Wolf. They then have their marriage where a fight between Lazar Wolf and Tevye beaks out. Then, Russian Officials tear the wedding apart.

Shortly after, Tevye's second daughter, Hodel (Michele Marsh), wants to marry Perchik (Michael Glaser). Tevye finally excepts, and the two move to Siberia. They find out that Tzeitel and Motel had a baby and Motel got a sewing machine. Then, afterwards, Chava (Neva Small) falls in love with the Christian Fyedka (Raymond Lovelock), and when they are not allowed to marry, Chava converts to Christianity and marries Fyedka. Tevye is so outraged at this that he never talks to Chava again. They go back to Anatevka where they find out that they must leave. Tevye and his family decide to go to New York, Lazar decides to go to Chicago, and Yente goes to Israel.
